Luxury Mindset: A Tranquil and Artistic Residential Design

Creating a Shangri-La-esque Paradise for Family Cohabitation

With a focal concept of Luxury from the Heart, the Luxury Mindset design by Kao Shih Chieh reconfigures public and private areas, creating a tranquil and artistic residential space that promotes family togetherness and a sense of serenity.

This unique residential design, created for a couple and their two grown daughters, aims to free up more space for family cohabitation. By reallocating the ratio and locations of public and private areas, the design creates a harmonious environment that reflects the core spirit of the family.

The centerpiece of the Luxury Mindset design is the Buddhist worship area, strategically placed to receive optimal light and emit calming energy. The furniture and decorations are artistically configured to imbue the space with a Shangri-La-esque atmosphere, evoking a sense of otherworldly paradise.

One of the key features of this design is the excellent lighting and air circulation achieved by connecting the fully open Buddhist worship area, the study room with grille walls, the interconnected living room and dining room, and the kitchen and balcony in the back. The entryway and kitchen's entrance are organized together using a double-arch gray wall, reminiscent of a cave, providing independence to the living and dining areas. The staggered beams and pillars are seamlessly integrated into the storage space and ceiling with soft curves, adding to the overall aesthetic appeal.

In the public areas, a dark wooden walkway symbolizes a flowing stream, demarcating the separation between the living room and dining room while leading to the private bedroom doors. The color scheme of black, white, and gray, along with wooden textures, integrates the imagery of woods, distant mountains, and flowing streams into the ceilings, floors, and walls, creating a warm and simplistic atmosphere for residents to enjoy a tranquil experience.

The Luxury Mindset design allows family members to engage in various activities separately in the study, Buddhist worship area, living room, and dining room, while still feeling a sense of togetherness in the same space. In the private areas, the master bedroom for the couple and the rooms for the two daughters are designed with both functionality and aesthetics in mind, catering to their individual needs.

The Luxury Mindset design project started in June and was completed in August 2022 in Taiwan. The design process involved extensive research and careful consideration of lighting, air circulation, and the metaphysical and physical needs of each family member. Overcoming the challenge of striking a balance between function, aesthetics, and artistic conception, the design successfully narrates a unique story and reflects the core spirit of the family.

The exceptional qualities of the Luxury Mindset design have been recognized with the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2023. This award acknowledges the design's outstanding creativity, resourcefulness, and incorporation of best practices in art, science, design, and technology, contributing to quality of life improvements and making the world a better place.
